Product Specific Information

Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (48%), Rat (48%).

This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-84333. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.

Target Information

The inhibitors of apoptosis (IAP) proteins prevent cell death both in vitro and in vivo by virtue of inhibition of distinct caspases. The X-linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis, XIAP, is a key member of the IAP family of proteins. The caspase inhibiting activity of XIAP is negatively regulated by at least two XIAP-interacting proteins, XIAP-associated factor 1 (XAF1) and Smac/DIABLO. XAF1 binds to XIAP and antagonizes caspase inhibitory activities of XIAP. Expression of XAF1 triggers a redistribution of XIAP from the cytosol to the nucleus. XAF1 is ubiquitously expressed in normal tissues, but is present at low or undetectable levels in many different cancer cell lines.
