Beclin 1 Antibody (PA5-140995) in ICC/IF

Immunocytochemistry analysis of Beclin 1 in HeLa cells (green). Formalin fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 10 minutes at room temperature and blocked with 1% Blocker BSA for 15 minutes at room temperature. Samples were incubated in Beclin 1 Polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-140995) using a dilution of 1:100 for 1 hour at room temperature, washed with PBS followed by Alexa Fluor®488 Goat anti-Rabbit IgG secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:1,000. The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue).

Target Information

Beclin 1 plays a central role in autophagy. It acts as a core subunit of the PI3K complex that mediates formation of phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate. Different PI3K complex forms are believed to play a role in multiple membrane trafficking pathways - PI3KC3-C1 is involved in the initation of autophagosomes and PI3KC3-C2 is involved in the maturation of autophagosomes and endocytosis. Beclin 1 also plays a role in antiviral host defense.
