Western blot analysis of Cathepsin S in various lysates. Samples were incubated with Cathepsin S monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-51135) using a dilution of 0.2 µg/mL followed by HRP-Linked Caprine Anti-Mouse IgG secondary antibody at a dilution of 0.2 µg/mL. Lane 1: Human Lung lysate; Lane 2: Rat Liver lysate.

The protein CTSS, a member of the peptidase C1 family, is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase that may participate in the degradation of antigenic proteins to peptides for presentation on MHC class II molecules. The protein can function as an elastase over a broad pH range in alveolar macrophages.
